Gym Refurbishment, Canary Wharf, London, 2022

This project involved the full refurbishment and re-design of the existing gym facilities within a Canary Wharf Tower Block, including a new cycle studio and free weights area. New showers, changing rooms, lockers and cycle storage facilities were also created within the existing car park for the benefit of the cyclists, runners and motorcyclists that use the building.

Squash Court = Spin Studio

As part of our design proposal we adapted the existing gym spaces to update them for contemporary exercise trends. This photo shows one of the existing squash courts, which we adapted to create a new spin studio with state of the art lighting and AV design. The primary challenge in designing this space was in the adaptation of the acoustic insulation to suit the new use!

Free Weights and Movement

We re-designed the gym floor layout to reduce the number of static machines and allow for more free weights and movement activities. Again, acoustics were a key factor in the design as we wanted to avoid any disturbance to the office spaces above and below the gym.
